Eligibility Requirements:
Before you begin the licensing process, make sure you meet the following criteria:
Be at least 18 years old
Possess a valid Social Security Number or ITIN
Complete a background check (via fingerprinting)
Complete pre-licensing education from a state-approved provider (ExamFX)
Schedule Your Exam:
You’ll take the official exam through PSI Exams, either in person or online.
To schedule:
• Go to https://www.psiexams.com
• Create an account
• Choose your exam format (in-person or remote proctoring)
• Pay the exam fee (approx. $88)
Get Fingerprinted:
California requires a Live Scan fingerprint background check.
• Available at most PSI testing locations
• Bring valid ID and fingerprinting form
